TWO WEEKS IN SOUTH KOREA - THE GETTING THERE - OCT 26 - NOV 10

-->
October 26 Saturday.
Easily made it to the airport for our flight to San Francisco.  The plane was on time.  Easy flight, but we ended up pooped anyhow.  How can a nothing day take so much out of you.  It took a bit for our shuttle to the Millwood Boutique Hotel.  Kind of a motel with benefits.  OK room.  Fine for what we wanted.
We walked down the block to the Millbrae Pancake House.  A wonderful joint.  I got a turkey avocado sandwich on sourdough,  Chuck got a waffle, but mercifully shared half my sandwich.
Ian and Sarah drove separately and got to the hotel at 6.  We drove to the Costanera – a Peruvian restaurant on the coast just south of Pacifica.  We were told that the place was in the shut-off zone for PG&E fire proofing zone.  If we could order dinner before the shut off we were fine.  Fortunately, we could. Dinner was great paella for most, Harriet had seared ahi.  Sean loves and got churros for dessert.  Great meal.
When we finished, Chuck went with Sarah and the kids, Ian and I drove in his car.  As we got away from the restaurant, the lights behind us began to shut down.  Just before we got to San Bruno, a red light in front of us began to blink red, then went black.  Ian, fortunately, knew where he was – off we went past the Google office and back to the Millwood hotel. Yikes.  Like the monster in a movie approaching the rear.
October 27/28 Sunday Monday
Airplane flight was long.  Problem was, we boarded at 9:20 AM (San Francisco time) and landed at 2:30 PM (Korea time). It basically meant we were on the plane all day.  Although I was a bit sleepy – not sleepy enough.  We got picked up by Raina (just a pick up guide).  She had ordered a van, and we drove from the airport at Inchon to our hotel The Somerset Palace Hotel in Seoul.  The drive took about an hour. I remember the river at Inchon because our driver from years ago made a big deal about the fighting there in the war.  Neither Charlie nor I remembered much else.  The Han River?  Nope.  Nor did we remember much about the city.  We checked into room 1111.  Very comfy and it has a washer!  Wow.  After a big shower (I needed that!). We walked around looking for a small bit for dinner.  We didn’t want to go too far, and eventually found the Crystal Jade – a Hong Kong style place.  We got a dish of dumplings and an egg drop sea food soup.  Bed super early.
