We got up early again. First we went to the Alabaster Mosque of Mohammed Ali. The Egyptians joined the resistance against Napoleon. When he lost they ended up with an Albanian King - Ali. He designed the mosque to resemble the one in Istambul. It is part of an old citadel with wonderful midieval walls.
Our next stop was the Egyptian National Museum. We couldn't take photos inside, but there were wonderful exhibits. Upstairs all the King Tut things found in his tomb. Best things for me were wonderful tables meant to hold his belongings. One had lion's faces and legs, one had cow faces and legs, but the best, had hippopotamus faces and legs - tusks and all.
We then went to the Khan-el-Khalil bazaar. Lots of stuff - lots of junk - and unfortunately for Chuck and me - lots of bartering. I don't do well with bartering. We got a few things and I'm sure they weren't as cheap as we could have gotten them. Still like the stuff.
After our bizarre bazaar encounter, we stopped and had a mango juice. Really nice. Then for a buffet lunch on a floating restaurant on the Nile. Nabil left us at this point. We walked back to the hotel and left our things. We then stomped off down the river to a tall tower to see Cairo from the air. Bit hazy - so we couldn't spot the pyramids from there. Too bad. Great walk though. Here's some photos.
